GVSU Softball Field
The GVSU Softball Field, originally built in 1982, was located to the southwest of the Fieldhouse. The original field had an enclosed fence and a scoreboard. Over the years, the field had numerous upgrades, which included dugouts, a press box, batting cages and pitching warm up areas. Construction began on a new facility, just west of the original, in the summer of 2006. The original field was removed after the 2007 season to make room for the Kelly Family Sports Center. The new GVSU Softball Field was constructed over a period of two years to allow the outfield grass to properly root. The new facility includes a mixed clay surface infield with an infield and outfield sprinkling system, stadium style seating, and enclosed press box, large dugouts, batting cages, two warm-up areas and a new scoreboard. The new softball facility was completed April 25, 2008.
The GVSU Softball Field has hosted the NCAA Midwest Regional tournament in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
